In 2024, I built a brand new site to promote the Minnesota State Fair for the University, using the University's Folwell design theme. This project, which updated the site for the 2025 Fair, built on that existing site with a new homepage, updated styles, and added the ability for events to be held at different locations.
I updated theme templates and site configurations to display information about each location, including name, address, and Google map link, on an index page for all locations and on each event display. This allows for a simplified editor experience as well as a great user experience, allowing users to quickly find where events are held and even add it to their calendar if they'd like to plan ahead.
The front page was completely overhauled to showcase new graphics, promotions, and add links to informational stories about the University.
Events from multiple locations were showcased this year. I added configuration and template adjustments to allow editors to easily select and display locations for each event. Users are able to filter by event date, type, and location.
To allow for more dynamic data functions, I added a content type for locations, allowing them to be easily edited and referenced across the site. Locations also were given the option to show an associated image near their information.
